On September 23, Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) organized the first workshop for Women4it pilot course participants in Latvia to meet successful women role models from Information System Tester field. Young women from the leading testing companies in Latvia shared their experience and stories about how they found testing to be their passion and choice of career.
On Wednesday afternoon participants from all Women4IT piloting groups in Latvia were invited to join a virtual meeting with the representatives from companies TesDevLab and If P&C Insurance to talk more about the opportunities in building a career as an Information System tester.
Anna Gintere, Test competence development lead from If P&C Insurance is one of the trainers in companies Testers School and she shared her experience and told her story about the road on becoming a tester, the challenges and the opportunities this career brings. She compared that being a tester is a lot like being a detective who is looking for clues. Every new project brings new excitement in her work and testers are valuable team players to develop a successful IT product to the market.
Inita Miglāne, Quality Assurance Engineer in the leading testing company in Latvia – TestDevLab, has been working in the field for five years and she started out with almost zero knowledge of testing, she encouraged Women4IT training participants to be curious, eager to learn and then one can always find new challenges in testing, and there is no bigger joy than to find an error to fix and know that you have helped to create a successful product.
LIKTA will continue organizing virtual and physical meetings with women role models and potential employers on regular bases to get to know more digital job profiles and encourage more young women to choose their career path in the ICT sector.
