On August 18, Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) invited potential participants to the first informative seminar within the Women4IT project, where young women were introduced to the project, study course programs and digital jobs employment opportunities. The courses are part of the activities of the international project Women4IT. The project aims to involve young NEET women in the ICT sector and in digital work.
Starting from July this year, LIKTA in cooperation with the State Employment Agency invited women aged 18 to 29 to assess their digital skills, their compliance with various digital job profiles on the platform https://digitaljobs.women4it.eu/ and to apply for courses in one of the six areas of digital jobs – customer service support representative, data analyst, data protection officer, information systems tester, project coordinator and digital media specialist.
In total, more than 200 young women in Latvia have already registered on the platform and tested their skills. 102 applications were received for six job profile training courses, and as the most popular job profiles, the participants chose the profession of information system tester – 30 applications and the profession of digital media specialist – 24 applications. According to the number of applications, 4 training courses will be organized to acquire the skills required in the field of information systems tester, digital media specialist, data analyst and data protection officer.
At the end of August, participants will be invited to a first face-to-face meeting to learn more about the content of the curriculum and discuss their digital career path.
The first training groups will start in the beginning of September and in the autumn it is planned to announce the registration for the second round of training.
