At the end of 2020, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) invited candidates for the second round of applications to trainings within the Women4IT project. More than 700 young women applied and expressed interest in participating in one of the six training programmes and digital jobs employment opportunities available in Latvia.
Starting in January, the second round of applicants were invited to participate in informative meetings, and later, to enroll in the training programme. LIKTA, in cooperation with the State Employment Agency, invited women aged 18 to 29 to assess their digital skills, their compliance with various digital job profiles on the platform, and to apply for courses in one of the six areas of digital jobs offered by W4IT: customer service support representative, data analyst, data protection officer, information systems tester, project coordinator and digital media specialist.
In total, more than 700 young women in Latvia have already registered on the platform and tested their skills for the second round of applications. Applications were received for six job profile training courses, and the most popular job profiles chosen by participants were that of information systems tester (235 applications) and digital media specialist (284 applications). According to the number of applications, six training courses will be organised to acquire the skills required in five digital jobs fields; for information systems tester there will be two training groups, in addition to one each for digital media specialist, data analyst, project coordinator and data protection officer.
The first training groups will begin at the end of January and training activities will continue until March.
