Mayara do Nascimento Ferreira Silva trained with Women4IT partner the Irish Computer Society, graduating from our Junior Web Developer course. Here, Mayara explains what motivated her to join the course and what she learnt along the way.
Women4IT: Why did you decide to start the Women4IT course?
Maraya: Because I wanted to change my profession, and this course gave me a basis to do so.
W4IT: How was your experience with the course?
Mayara: The experience was very good as the course is for beginners just like me, easy to understand and the material is easy to access.
W4IT: What have you learnt during the course?
Mayara: During the course I learnt how to develop a website from the beginning using HTML, Java and CSS. I also learnt what the day–to–day workload for a professional in this area is like.
W4IT: What has the course given you?
Mayara: A great opportunity to study for free and at home.
W4IT: How have you grown professionally?
Mayara: I have acquired new skills, and I am now more prepared to enter the job market.
W4IT: How have you grown personally?
Mayara: Today I have more confidence that I made the right decision to change my career.
W4IT: Would you recommend it to a friend? Why?
Mayara: Yes, for sure; many people sometimes simply need a course like this to help their career.
